Frequently asked questions
The questions people ask most before ordering a personalised 2D pixel game gift: what is inside the game, what it costs, how long it takes and how ordering works.
What is oin?
oin turns your story into a small custom 2D pixel-art video game that you give as a gift. The main character is generated from a photo you upload, the letters you write appear inside the game, and a 5-question quiz about your relationship is built into the levels.
What is included in the game?
A main character generated from an authorized photo, two personal letters, a custom 5-question quiz, a final level set in Almaty (New York and Tokyo coming soon), 2 custom NPCs, a private browser game link available for one year, and a downloadable copy of the game files. The full list is on the pricing page.
How much does a personalised video game gift cost?
The game costs $29.90 as a single one-time payment - no subscription and no recurring charges. Your first 2 custom NPCs are included; every additional NPC is $5. Local prices are listed on the pricing page.
How long does it take to make?
The game is generated automatically after payment, and the link usually arrives by email within an hour. When many orders come in at once it can take a little longer. If it is for a specific date, order ahead and send the link on the day.
How do I order a custom game?
Fill in the form on the site: the character photo and name, your two letters, 5 quiz questions, any friends with their photos, and your email. You see the final price, pay at a secure Polar checkout, and the game is generated automatically and emailed to you with a one-year private game link and a downloadable copy.
What kind of photo should I send?
A full-body photo with good lighting, where the face and clothes are clearly visible, gives the best character. The file has to be under 5 MB and can be JPEG, PNG, WebP or HEIC.
What devices does the game run on?
The game plays in a modern web browser on a computer, phone or tablet, and you also get a downloadable copy of the game files. The private game link remains available for one year from delivery; the downloaded copy is yours to keep.
Can I choose the characters in the game?
Yes. Two custom NPCs made from photos of people who explicitly consented are included; each additional NPC is $5. We do not accept celebrities, public figures, brands, or copyrighted characters.
Does oin make face swaps or deepfakes?
No. The character is generated automatically as a small, simplified pixel-art sprite based on an authorized photo - a cartoon figure, not a realistic face. We do not make face swaps, deepfakes, photorealistic images or voice imitations, and every person whose photo you upload must have explicitly consented.
What occasions is it a good gift for?
Birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s Day, International Women’s Day, graduations or simply a day that matters to you. Because the letters and the quiz are written entirely by you, the game fits whatever the occasion is.
How does payment work and is it safe?
Polar is the Merchant of Record and contractual seller. You pay on a secure Polar checkout page, and we never see or store your card details. Polar calculates applicable sales tax or VAT and shows it before you confirm.
Can I get a refund?
Purchases are non-refundable, because each game is personalised and delivered straight after payment. If generation fails, your payment is refunded in full automatically, and we also give a full refund if the game never arrives, you are charged twice, or the game is faulty and we cannot fix it. Email oingift@gmail.com with your order number. See our refund policy.
What happens to my photo and letters?
They are used only to build your game. We do not sell them and we do not use your personal details in advertising. How long we keep them and how deletion works is described in our privacy policy.
Is a personalized game a good long distance relationship gift?
Yes, and it is one of the few gifts that needs no shipping at all - the finished game is a download link, so there is no parcel, no customs and no delivery window. Details are on the long distance relationship gift page.
Can two people play it, or is it a game for couples only?
The game is single-player, but couples usually play it together on one screen or over a screen-shared call. It is not couples-only either: the letters and quiz are written by you, so it works just as well as a game gift for friends. See the game gift for couples page for how the quiz works.
How customizable is the game?
You choose the main character from an authorized photo, their name, two letters, five quiz questions, the final city and two custom NPCs from authorized photos. The full list is on the custom game gift page.
Do I need to know anything about video games to order one?
No. You fill in a form with a photo, two letters and five questions - the generator creates the character, builds the levels and packages the game. The person receiving it does not need a gaming PC either; it plays in a normal web browser.
