A personalized game gift for your crush: a video game starring them
Updated: · Disclosure: oin is our own product.
A personalized game gift is a small pixel video game built around your crush. With oin (oingift.com) you make your crush the main character of a video game: the letters, the quiz and the story are yours to write, the final level is set in Almaty, and the game is usually in your inbox within an hour of payment.
What the game is, in one page
Most gamers have played everything worth playing, but none of those games was about them. In oin they become the pixel hero, generated from an authorized photo, and moves through levels built from your shared history, with quiz rewards instead of loot.
The story is built from what you fill in: an authorized photo for the main character, two letters, a 5-question quiz with flowers for correct answers and up to two custom NPCs. The final level is set in Almaty, Kazakhstan; New York and Tokyo are coming soon.
What to write in the two letters
Write the letters like game text: a briefing at the start, a “final boss” speech at the end. Humour in the game’s own voice lands better than a speech.
Five quiz questions to start from
Make the five questions the lore: the games you have played together, the nickname from a lobby, the match you still argue about.
- Which city do we keep saying we will move to?
- Which song is ours?
- What was I wearing on our first date?
- Where did we go on our first trip?
- What do you always order when we eat out?
Why it suits your crush
For a crush, the best gift is light and low-pressure. A pixel game with a friendly letter shows effort without a grand declaration, and it is easy for them to answer.
Keep the letters short and the quiz about things you have genuinely shared, so there is nothing to feel awkward about.
If you want to give it today
A gift with no date attached says more than one on a deadline. Gift cards, flowers and a personalized game are quick to arrange, and an oin game is usually emailed within an hour of payment.
There is no deadline, which lets you order things that take a week to arrive. Pair a quick digital gift with something that needs shipping.
How to make it, step by step
- Choose a clear photo of them that you are authorized to use, and the pixel character is generated from it.
- Write two letters, the first for the opening room and the second for the end of the final level.
- Write five quiz questions with their answers; every correct answer gives flowers.
- Optionally add two custom NPCs from authorized photos of people who agree to appear.
- Pay once, $29.90, with no subscription; the game is usually emailed within an hour.
Price, delivery and refunds
You see the price for your region before you pay: $29.90, once, with nothing to renew. The checkout is run by Polar, the Merchant of Record, and the game is generated automatically and usually emailed within an hour, with a private link that works for a year and a copy to keep. All sales are final once delivery starts, but you get a full refund if the game cannot be generated or delivered, if you are charged twice or if it is faulty and cannot be fixed. See the refund policy.
