A personalized game gift for your best friend to say sorry: say sorry with letters they unlock
Updated: · Disclosure: oin is our own product.
oin (oingift.com) makes a personalized 2D pixel game starring your best friend, which is a direct way to apologise to your best friend with a game. You upload an authorized photo, write two letters and five quiz questions, and pay once; the game is generated automatically and usually emailed within an hour as a private browser link.
What the game looks like
Saying sorry in person puts pressure on the reply. A private pixel game takes the pressure off, because they can play it alone and answer when they are ready.
Under the hood it is a short pixel game with levels, a quiz and a final level in Almaty, Kazakhstan. You supply the photo, the letters, the questions and, if you like, two NPCs; New York and Tokyo final levels are coming soon.
What to write in the two letters
Keep both letters short and plain. The apology is in the specifics, so skip the long explanations and the word “but”.
Five quiz questions to start from
Make the quiz about what matters to them, so each answer shows you are listening now.
- Which trip went wrong, and why?
- What game did we play all night?
- Which song do we sing too loudly?
- What was the worst haircut in the group?
- Where did we first meet?
If you want to say sorry today
A late apology is better than none. Gift cards, flowers and a personalized game can be arranged online the same day, and an oin game is usually emailed within an hour of payment, with your letter inside.
A gift does not fix an argument. Start with an honest apology that names what you did, then add the gift as a sign that you listened.
Why it suits your best friend
A best friend has heard every story, so the game should retell them in the worst possible way. Use real names, real mistakes and the nickname from school.
Write one letter as a roast and one as the sincere thing you never say, because both are true.
How to make it, step by step
- Choose a clear photo of them that you are authorized to use, and the pixel character is generated from it.
- Write two letters, the first for the opening room and the second for the end of the final level.
- Add a 5-question quiz about your friendship; each correct answer is rewarded with flowers.
- Add up to two custom NPCs, friends or family, as long as everyone who appears agrees.
- Pay $29.90 once; the game is generated automatically and usually emailed within an hour.
Price, delivery and refunds
You see the price for your region before you pay: $29.90, once, with nothing to renew. The checkout is run by Polar, the Merchant of Record, and the game is generated automatically and usually emailed within an hour, with a private link that works for a year and a copy to keep. All sales are final once delivery starts, but you get a full refund if the game cannot be generated or delivered, if you are charged twice or if it is faulty and cannot be fixed. See the refund policy.
