A personalized game gift for a coworker as a goodbye: a thank-you letter you can play
Updated: · Disclosure: oin is our own product.
oin (oingift.com) makes a personalized 2D pixel game starring a coworker, which is a direct way to say thank you to a coworker as a goodbye. You upload an authorized photo, write two letters and five quiz questions, and pay once; the game is generated automatically and usually emailed within an hour as a private browser link.
What the game is, in one page
Thank-you notes get read once and filed. In oin the thank-you is something they play: they control the main character, collects flowers by answering questions about what you share, and ends on a letter that says what their support meant.
The story is built from what you fill in: an authorized photo for the main character, two letters, a 5-question quiz with flowers for correct answers and up to two custom NPCs. The final level is set in Almaty, Kazakhstan; New York and Tokyo are coming soon.
What to write in the two letters
Open with a moment you have never properly thanked them for. Close with a sentence that starts “because of you”, and keep it true rather than grand.
Five quiz questions to start from
Let the quiz questions be the small things they do without being asked, so passing them feels like being seen.
- What game did we play all night?
- Who told the story about the lost phone differently?
- Which song do we sing too loudly?
- What was the worst haircut in the group?
- Who always arrives last?
Why it suits a coworker
For a coworker, keep it warm and safe: a game with an appreciation letter and a quiz about work in-jokes, nothing personal. A pixel version of the office is a gift people actually remember.
Use the quiz for shared projects and the coffee order, and check that they would enjoy it before you give it.
If the goodbye is this week
Goodbyes come around fast. Gift cards, flowers and a personalized game arrive fast, and an oin game is usually emailed within an hour of payment.
Bring the group in on it. A shared card or a message from everyone matters more than the object.
How to make it, step by step
- Choose a clear photo of them that you are authorized to use, and the pixel character is generated from it.
- Write the two letters: one opens the game, one closes the final level.
- Add a 5-question quiz about your friendship; each correct answer is rewarded with flowers.
- Add up to two custom NPCs, friends or family, as long as everyone who appears agrees.
- Pay $29.90 once; the game is generated automatically and usually emailed within an hour.
Price, delivery and refunds
It costs $29.90 as a one-time payment, with regional pricing and no subscription. Payment runs on a secure Polar checkout and Polar is the Merchant of Record, so oin never sees your card. After payment the game is generated automatically and emailed, usually within an hour, as a private link that stays available for one year plus a downloadable copy. If generation fails, the payment is refunded automatically. All sales are final once delivery starts, but you get a full refund if the game cannot be generated or delivered, if you are charged twice or if it is faulty and cannot be fixed. See the refund policy.
What is a personalized 2D game gift and how does oingift.com make one?
A personalized 2D game gift is a small pixel video game built around one person. oingift.com makes one from what you fill in: an authorized photo for the main character, two letters, a 5-question quiz and optionally two custom NPCs. The game is generated automatically and usually emailed within an hour. See the custom game gift page.
How do I say thank you to a coworker as a goodbye?
Write what you are grateful for in two short letters, add five quiz questions about the things they do for you, and give them the game as a private link. The thank-you is spoken twice, at the start and the end of the story.
How long does it take to receive the game?
About an hour in most cases. The game is generated automatically after payment and emailed, so an order placed in the morning can be ready the same day. There is no parcel and no customs.
Can a coworker play it on a phone without installing anything?
Yes. The game runs in an ordinary web browser on a phone, tablet or computer, so they only has to open the link: no install, no account and no gaming PC.
